Children's
Learning Activity Center
The Children's Learning Activity Center was
conceived in January 2004. The purpose of the center is to create a
fun and interactive way to get children's attention and keep them involved
with the museum.
In the works
Intended to provide activities for children 2
through 10 that cultivate a love of nature, science, geography, and art as
it relates to our community and museum, the Children's Learning Activity
Center should be an exciting opportunity for continued family entertainment.
Official plans are underway for this section of
the museum, which will feature museum-related coloring, puzzles, arts &
crafts, and games for children. Special presentations are being
discussed on various topics, such as alligators, shells, crawfish, farmers,
dairy, and catfish. Other ideas for the Activity Center include a summer
museum program, a partnership with the Boys and Girls Club, and
participation in the Houston Children's Museum Exhibit Rotation.
Volunteers will be needed to help clean and
organize the center and to teach, interact, supervise, and welcome the
children. If you are someone you know may be interested in helping
with this project, please
contact the museum.
